For the folks at Silver Dollar
City the Christmas season is a major reason to celebrate, and not just
for a few days. Each year the Branson historic theme park turns the
months of November and December into a beautiful holiday showcase with
lights, greenery, music, food and entertainment known as An Old Time
Christmas.
Again this year Silver Dollar City is staging a musical production
of Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol” which features Tiny
Tim (cover) and his family as well as Scrooge and a trio of ghosts
who remind him of the real reasons for the holiday season. Several
perfomances of the musical are staged each day in the Opera House.
But the holiday celebrations don’t end there. Daily the park
hosts special events and entertainers, like a concert by the Springfield
Boys Choir in the gazebo next to Silver Dollar City’s giant Christmas
tree (photo left). Each evening the park holds a Christmas tree lighting
ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
And, of course, the entire park is emblazened with thousands of Christmas
lights. A great way to see the park and all the decorations is aboard
Silver Dollar City’s steam train, also decorated, which continuously
circles the park.
